Beginners in the Kitchen

Cooking is a life skill that should be easy, enjoyable and produce tasty results. Our Principal, Yvette Farrell, has developed this class over many years of experiencing a general lack of confidence people experience when presented with the kitchen door. She believes that everyone can cook but may lack the skills, the knowledge, the ability to use fresh ingredients or may have fallen out of love with cookery as it has become a chore. Whatever kind of experience you have had we aim to give you skills to enjoy cooking, to broaden your culinary horizons and to enjoy the social aspect of coming together over food.
During the class you will learn about: food hygiene, the storecupboard, the use of herbs, spices and stocks to add flavours, how to use knives safely & effectively, make sauces, cook meat, fish, veg and to bake. We will prep and serve breakfast, lunch and and afternoon tea together.
