At Harts Barn Cookery School are committed to a Zero Waste environment. We follow the principles of the 5 steps to achieve Zero Waste

REFUSE:

We only buy as required and avoid stock as much as possible.

We only buy from suppliers who use a minimal amount of packaging

REDUCE:

We buy as much as possible from local suppliers to reduce food miles

We inform customers of alternative transport options when they are visiting us to reduce their impact on the environment

REUSE:

We turn surplus ingredients into other products through fermentation and dehydration

We ask customers to bring their own containers to take their items home with them after a class

RECYCLE:

All packaging used is recyclable

We support upcycling

ROT:

Any food waste that we have not been able to use is put in the compost bin

Used oil is sieved and re-used. When it reaches the end of its useable life the oil is collected to be turned into biofuel.
